The Hardrock 100 is a 102.5 mile loop through the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, with 33,000 feet of climbing at an average elevation over 11,000 feet. Starting and finishing in Silverton, the course crosses thirteen major passes and summits Handies Peak at 14,048 feet, making it one of the most demanding mountain ultras on earth.

The Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run is not just a race; it is a pilgrimage into some of the most rugged and unforgiving terrain in North America. Starting and finishing in the historic mining town of Silverton, Colorado, the 102.5 mile loop threads through the San Juan Mountains, passing through Telluride, Ouray, and the ghost town of Sherman while crossing thirteen major passes in the 12,000 to 13,000 foot range.

With 33,000 feet of climbing and an average elevation exceeding 11,000 feet, every mile tests the limits of human endurance. The course traverses 4WD roads, exposed ridgelines, steep scree fields, lingering snowpack, river crossings, and boulder fields. The summit of Handies Peak at 14,048 feet marks the highest point, while the low point in Ouray sits at 7,680 feet, creating massive vertical oscillations that define the character of this legendary race.

Altitude sickness, sudden storms, and extreme exposure are constant companions. The average finish time of over 41 hours speaks to the sheer difficulty of this course. Hardrock is not about speed; it is about resilience, self reliance, and a deep respect for the mountains that have drawn runners back to this corner of Colorado since 1992.
