Where desert canyons, ancient wadis and rugged Hajar Mountains reveal the wild beauty of Arabia beneath a canopy of stars.
Oman by UTMB takes runners into the dramatic Hajar Mountains and desert landscapes of the Sultanate of Oman. The course navigates deep wadis, rocky mountain ridges and ancient caravan trails in a landscape where Arabian heritage and raw natural beauty create a trail experience like no other.
The Sultanate of Oman is a land of contrasts, and Oman by UTMB takes runners into its most dramatic terrain. The Hajar Mountains, rising to over 3,000 meters, form a rugged spine of limestone and ophiolite that drops sharply into deep wadis, carved by millennia of flash floods. The course follows ancient donkey trails and caravan routes through this lunar landscape, climbing to exposed ridgelines with views stretching across the Arabian Peninsula.
The desert environment presents unique challenges: intense heat, limited shade, rocky terrain that punishes every misstep and the navigation demands of trails that sometimes fade into the sand. Yet the beauty is mesmerizing, from the turquoise pools hidden in wadi gorges to the star filled skies of the Arabian night.
As part of the UTMB World Series, Oman by UTMB opens a new frontier for international trail running. The warmth of Omani hospitality, the richness of Arabian culture and the stark, otherworldly beauty of the landscape create a race experience that redefines what trail running can be.
