The course threads through ancient Valdivian forests of coihue, lenga and araucaria trees, climbs to exposed Andean ridgelines where condors soar on the thermals, and descends to the shores of glacial lakes that shimmer in impossible shades of turquoise and emerald.

The Patagonian terrain is as demanding as it is beautiful. Runners navigate rooty forest single track, exposed alpine terrain above the treeline, and rocky descents with views stretching to snow capped volcanoes on the Chilean border. The infamous Patagonian wind adds an ever present element of unpredictability, capable of transforming a calm mountain day into a full blown gale within minutes.
