Canada's premier ultra trail event, tracing the wild Sentier des Caps along the majestic St. Lawrence River from Charlevoix to Mont Sainte Anne.
The Quebec Mega Trail sends runners along the rugged coastline and forested highlands between Baie-Saint-Paul and Mont Sainte Anne, following the legendary Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix. With distances from 1 km to 160 km and a new multi day stage race format for 2026, this is trail running on the grand scale of the Canadian Shield, where boreal forest meets the immense St. Lawrence.
There is something deeply moving about running along the edge of a continent. The Quebec Mega Trail captures that feeling like few other events, sending runners along the dramatic cliffs, dense boreal forests, and wild river views of the Charlevoix and Côte de Beaupré regions. The departure from Baie-Saint-Paul, a picturesque artists' town at the mouth of the Gouffre River, sets the tone: the St. Lawrence stretches before you like an inland sea, its far shore barely visible, and the trail ahead plunges into some of the most untamed terrain in eastern North America.
The course follows the Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix, a legendary long distance hiking trail that traverses a succession of headlands, river crossings, and forested ridges before arriving at Mont Sainte Anne. The flagship QMT160 covers 160 kilometers with 6,500 meters of elevation gain, a relentless roller coaster of short, punchy climbs and technical descents through root laced single track. For 2026, the event introduces the Trans QMT, a three day stage race that blends a night stage with two demanding daytime legs, a first for Canadian trail running.
Selected to host the Canadian Trail Running Championships in 2025 and 2026, the Quebec Mega Trail has earned its place among the continent's elite events. The combination of wild Canadian landscape, world class organization, and the unmistakable warmth of Québécois hospitality makes this a must do for any trail runner with a taste for adventure on a grand scale.
