Switzerland's oldest ultra trail, where alpine ridges meet the majesty of Grand Combin and Mont Blanc
Born in the heart of the Valais Alps, Trail Verbier St Bernard by UTMB is the oldest ultra trail in Switzerland. Its routes climb to 3,084 m at Mont Rogneux, threading ridgelines with sweeping views of the Grand Combin and Mont Blanc massifs across distances from 26 km to 141 km.
Trail Verbier St Bernard by UTMB holds a special place in Swiss trail running history as the country's very first ultra trail. Starting from the legendary ski resort of Verbier, the event offers four races ranging from the accessible X Plore (26 km) to the formidable X Alpine (141 km, 8,900 m D+), each one a celebration of high alpine terrain in the Valais.
The courses weave along exposed ridgelines, across mountain pastures, and over rocky cols, culminating at Mont Rogneux (3,084 m). Runners are rewarded with panoramic views of the Grand Combin (4,314 m) and Mont Blanc, the two titans that dominate the horizon. Technical singletrack, steep ascents, and unpredictable mountain weather make every edition a true test of endurance and mountain craft.
Whether you choose the marathon distance through the Val de Bagnes or the full X Alpine traversal linking iconic summits, this race delivers an authentic alpine experience steeped in decades of tradition, where the spirit of the mountains and the warmth of the Swiss welcome converge at the finish line.
