Ultra-Trail Snowdonia by UTMB

ENG Llanberis , ENG | 15 May - May 17, 2026

Into the wild heart of Eryri, where ancient Welsh mountains, slate quarries and Atlantic storms forge an unforgettable trail running challenge.

Ultra-Trail Snowdonia by UTMB takes runners through the rugged mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia) in North Wales. The course traverses exposed ridgelines, slate quarry landscapes and remote valleys beneath the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), Britain's most dramatic mountain range.

The mountains of Eryri, known in English as Snowdonia, are among the oldest and most dramatic in the British Isles. Ultra-Trail Snowdonia by UTMB sends runners into this ancient landscape from Llanberis, at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), on a course that traverses exposed ridgelines, descends into dark slate quarry amphitheatres and crosses remote valleys where the only company is the wind and the occasional wild pony.

The terrain is relentlessly varied: rocky scrambles on the higher ridges, boggy moorland crossings, technical descents on loose slate and smooth lakeside paths that offer brief moments of respite. The weather in Eryri is famously unpredictable, with Atlantic fronts sweeping in to transform sunny trails into wind blasted, fog shrouded challenges within minutes.

As part of the UTMB World Series, this race draws an international field to a corner of Wales steeped in myth and history. The warmth of the Welsh running community, the stirring landscape and the raw, honest challenge of Eryri's mountains make this an essential race for anyone who loves mountain running in its purest form.
